Blood Sugar Levels

Previously I have touched on diabetes. Actually it was only recently that I got to know a friend who happened to suffer from diabetes and this stoked my interest in this subject. I thought that I would inform my blog readers about diabetes and hopefully get more people to stay fit and healthy. Diabetes is no joke because if not cured or managed properly, it would lead to all sorts of complications such problems with the kidneys, nerves, feet, and eyes. You may also have a higher risk of heart disease or bone and joint disorders and other kinds of skin problems, digestive problems and sexual dysfunction. Diabetes is characterized by high blood sugar levels but what are normal blood sugar levels then? Stay tuned…

Eating right for Diabetics

In one of my earlier posts, I have talked about diabetes. Diabetes is a horrible disease which results in the loss of control of the sugar levels in the blood, i.e. increased blood sugar levels. What most diabetics do is that they have to inject insulin. However this is only for patients suffering from type 1 diabetes which is insulin dependent diabetes. By the way insulin is a hormone which informs the body to take up glucose from the blood and store it as glycogen. Those suffering from type 1 diabetes fail to produce insulin in the body. Yet there is another kind of diabetes known as type 2 diabetes, which is non insulin dependent. For this case insulin has no effects on the body. Such diabetics would thus need to watch what they eat and what I would recommend is for them to have a diabetic menu. More on that later…

Yoga for beginners

Thought about taking up another hobby which will keep you fit and healthy? Well I sure have got something to recommend to you! Ever heard of yoga? Yes it is the kind of exercise that is part meditation and concentration and part stretching and relaxation. If you are just starting out, there are actually many places online where you can find information online. For example check out this site which offers information on beginner poses for yoga. It is always better to try out some of these yoga poses at home and see if it works for you. Once you get the hang of it or maybe if you want to take things to a higher level, you would then have to maybe seek help for a yoga instructor. And soon you would be the yoga master!

Perfecting that Golf Swing

I have been talking about keeping fit and healthy so much and I have just realised that I have missed out on an important exercise which is none other than golf! Golf is not a very popular exercise because it can get quite expensive. You need to get some golf clubs and join a membership at some golf club before you can really get swinging. I also heard there are problems for the ladies out there and especially for smaller sized ladies who need to get petite ladies golf clubs. But golf has been listed as one of the best games that the big boys play. Need to get a business deal done? Play golf with your business partners and observe how they play. Build rapport with them. Golf is still pretty much an interesting sport.

Ensuring normal blood sugar levels

Ensuring normal blood sugar levels is very important. For those who do not already know, Diabetes mellitus, often simply referred to as diabetes, is a condition in which a person has a high blood sugar (glucose) level, either because the body doesn’t produce enough insulin, or because body cells don’t properly respond to the insulin that is produced by the body. The increased blood sugar levels in the body lead to glucose accumulating in the blood. This condition is known as hyperglycemia and can lead to vascular, nerve, and other complications within the body. When a person has diabetes, he or she would need to make lifestyle changes to accommodate to his or her new body condition. One thing you should do would be to exercise your way to a normal blood sugar level. In addition, you should smoke less or even better stop smoking.

Need some help with those joints?

If you have been diligently following my advice on this blog and have been doing your work outs and exercising regularly, perhaps I would not be writing this post. However the problem is that I have been hearing people telling me that they are having problems with their joints. Like I said, if you have been running on the treadmill instead of on the road or at the stadium, the impact is less great that is one of the benefits of getting a treadmill to run at home. However if you have got joint pain, you might want to check out this website that talks about how you can have some relief for joint pain. Otherwise just take care when exercising!

Street fighters!

Well have you heard about the street fighters before? I hope you have because this article is about some street fighting! Street fighters was one of those things that left an impression on my childhood. If you like to play games at the arcade, you most likely would know about street fighters, where you duel with an opponent or sometimes with the arcade machine and you press violently on the machine buttons so that you can execute all the hits on your opponent. If you are interested to learn to street fight, the last thing you would want to do is to learn from the street fighters because they are just a game!

How to Open a Gym

Now in connection to my earlier article about gyms, right now you must be thinking how you can open your own gym. If you ask me, first of all you got to look for a place to set up your gym. Once you have got the location and maybe the room, you have got to make sure that the air is properly maintained and has proper air flow or maybe air conditioned. Think about all the exercise equipment that you would want to add to your gym. If you are starting a professional gym, you would have to think about hiring some professional trainers as well. Anyways if you are ever in doubt, check out this site on how to open a gym.

Working out at the gym

I guess you would have noticed that I talk a lot about treadmills. Actually if you have been to the gym before or perhaps if you are a proud owner of a gym or maybe a mini gym then you would have realised that exercise equipment is more than treadmills. For example there are dumb bells that you can use to tone your muscles from all parts of your body. Some people would try out the seated lat row to work on those lats. Then you can always do the bench press. And there are so many different machines out there that can be added to your gym. I just hope that I have opened your mind up a little now.

More tips to stay healthy

Well just recently I have been reading many news on health in the papers. One study talked about how smoking results in low IQ but then other people would say that it is the low IQ people who are the ones smoking. So which comes first? Low IQ or smoking? Then another report talked about how drinking 2 soft drinks a week can result in higher incidences of diabetes. I am not a fan of soft drinks so guess I am lucky in this aspect! Last article talked about heart attacks. Nobody can escape from them. If you ask me, many people might overlook how much staying healthy matters, but trust me that when you get hit by something, most of the time it may be too late to do anything.
